HOW I HELP REACTIVE DOGS

A different approach

How Am I Different?

Most reactivity training falls into 2 categories:

  • management only (distract with food, scatter-feed, reward for alternative behavior, stay at a distance, etc)

  • suppression only (stopping the barking and lunging with aversives)

With one common goal: stop the barking and lunging.

And that’s it.

I Take It A Step Further

To me it’s not enough to stop there, with simply stopping the behavior. It’s not enough that a dog is no longer barking and lunging on leash.

I’m asking:

  • Can they make good choices if you don’t have food? If you don’t ask for another behavior?

  • Can they behave appropriately OFF leash?

  • Can they meet new dogs? On leash and off?

  • Have they learned appropriate ways to interact with dogs?

  • Have they changed their feelings about new dogs?

  • Do they have the confidence and social skills to interact with dogs?

  • Can they play with new dogs?

If the answer is no… the problem isn’t truly resolved.

Stopping Behavior Isn’t Enough

Don’t settle for less! You can have so much more than just “not barking on leash”. Now that we’ve stopped the bad behavior, let’s give your dog their life back! I want to:

  • get your dog off leash

  • have them meet new dogs

  • have them run around off leash with new dogs

  • get them playing with dogs

  • teach skills to interact with new dogs

  • build their confidence around new dogs

  • build off-leash obedience and control around dogs

If it doesn't make your dog's life bigger and better, what's the point?

What's the point of stopping reactivity if your dog is still socially isolated?

I Work With Owners Who Want More

I work with owners who want more…

More than just being able to walk by another dog at a distance.

More than leashed walks.

More than keeping your dog away from other dogs.

More than just management or suppression.

I work with owners who truly want the best for their dogs, owners who want to enjoy a life of off-leash adventures and new friends with their dog.

If this sounds like you, let's talk.
